G, A, R - A, G, E, The Garage is the place to be!

This was the cheer that could be heard at the Norwich youth arts venue yesterday as youngsters had fun shaking their green and silver pom-poms and learning the art of American cheerleading.

Jenny and Becky Copeland, from the Norwich-based East Coast Emeralds, led yesterday's workshop which saw young performers learn lots of different cheerleading moves that were incorporated into a special routine celebrating The Garage.

Becky said: 'They did really well. They had lots of fun and picked up the moves really well.'

Among those taking part was Marli Harrowven, nine, and Elliott Talbot, 13.

Marli said: 'I have never done cheerleading before and I think it is just really fun. I would like to be a cheerleader.'

Elliott added: 'It is great fun. I really like the gymnastics and the dance.'

The day-long workshop was the first part of the All American Extravaganza summer camp being held at The Garage, in Chapel Field North, until Friday.
