The collision, which involved two cars and a lorry, happened on the A47 at Thorney Toll at about 4.30pm on Friday.

Today police said the driver of a blue Peugeot 206, Sukhdeep Johal, 27, of Welford Road, Leicester, suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.

The driver of a green Jaguar X Type Saloon, a 29-year-old woman from Peterborough, received minor injuries and the driver of the lorry, a 56-year-old man from Wisbech, was not injured.

PC Simon Burginm, from Cambridgeshire police, said: “I would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or saw any of the vehicles in the moments leading up to the incident.”
