This evening at about 5pm the joint Norfolk and Suffolk Police helicopter could be seen flying near the Norwich Evening News office in Rouen Road.

A police spokesman said the helicopter, along with police officers on the ground, had been involved with a search for a man.

He said he could not disclose details of the man or why police were looking for him.

During the incident a fellow police spokesman said that the helicopter had been deployed for a routine police operation and there was no issue of public safety.

He said: “There is no issue of public safety. The sight of the police helicopter over Norwich should not be taken as any cause for concern or alarm.”
