The 28 year-old woman was discovered in a flat in Richmond Place, off Columbia Avenue, King’s Lynn, at about 10.30pm on Sunday night.

Today two PCSOs stood guard outside the property, which is close to Greenpark Avenue and the Lynnsport leisure complex.

It is believed the woman was Eastern European and had a daughter who did not live with her.

Borough councillor Andy Tyler, who has represented the North Lynn ward for more than 10 years said that he was “distressed” to be told of the grim discovery.

He said: “All I can say is how distressed one is and regrets to hear such an incident reported in the area.

“To hear about this is a matter of concern whatever the circumstances.”

A postmortem examination took place this afternoon. Police have confirmed there were no suspicious circumstances, although further toxicology tests are being carried out to establish a precise cause of the woman’s death. A file will be prepared for HM Coroner in due course.

Two men, aged in their late 20s and late 30s, were arrested in connection with the incident and have been released without charge.
