Train services between Norwich and London have been returning to normal after delays throughout the morning.

A passenger on the 6.29am Ipswich to Liverpool Street service today was taken ill at Brentwood station which led to an ambulance being called and the train being delayed at Brentwood for 45 minutes.

A Greater Anglia spokesman said this caused a back-log of trains travelling into the capital and a knock-on effect of delays throughout the morning as the train operator worked to resume a normal service. The 9am and 2pm London Liverpool Street to Norwich services were also cancelled.

There were also signalling problems at Ipswich between about 9.15am and 9.45am which caused some delays, including a 50 minute delay on the 8.30am Norwich to London service.

The Greater Anglia spokesman said normal service was more or less resumed by late morning, and that Greater Anglia expected to run to run a full service this afternoon and evening.

A Greater Anglia spokesman apologised for the delays and said passengers whose journeys were delayed by 30 minutes or more could claim some money back on their train tickets. For more information visit via
