A man has died after the car he was driving went into the River Yare yesterday afternoon in Surlingham.
Officers were called at 5.21pm to the river bank near to Ferry Road after reports of a vehicle, a green Nissan Micra, was in the river.
Emergency services including the fire service and ambulance attended the scene, and the vehicle was found at 7.15pm.
The body of the man, who has not been identified, was recovered and police are now appealing for witnesses.
It is not thought anyone else was in the vehicle at the time of the incident and no one else was hurt.
A police spokesman said that inquiries were ongoing but it is not thought there were any suspicious circumstances.
Police are now identifying the body of the man and informing the next of kin.
Anyone with information about the incident should contact police on 101.
