A motorist has crashed into one of a town’s most well known hotels.

It is believed the driver had a medical seizure and drove into the Thomas Paine Hotel in Thetford.

The accident happened at about 4.15pm today.

Norfolk police, the fire service and paramedics attended the scene.

The driver was uninjured and was taken to the West Suffolk Hospital.

As reported, the Whitehart Street hotel was recently taken over by Gez Chetal’s firm Buddha Hotels Limited.

Mr Chetal said the silver Honda Accord had gone through the wall and into the hotel’s function room.

He said: “The front end of the car is in the function room. Structural engineers are on the way and will see if it is safe or not.”
