The incident happened on King Street at about 5.30pm yesterday and involved a blue Audi A4.

The youngster was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital with a head injury following the incident but sadly died as a result of his injuries.

At 9.10pm yesterday police confirmed on social media website Twitter that the youngster had passed away.

A family liaison officer from Norfolk Police is now supporting the family.

A spokesman said: “Norfolk police are appealing for witnesses to a fatal accident involving a young child in King’s Lynn’s King Street.

“Anyone who witnessed the collision or the manner of the driving of the Audi is asked to make contact with Norfolk Constabulary.”

Following the accident, King Street was closed between the Queen Street junction and the Tuesday Market Place.

Visitors have been flocking to King’s Lynn to visit the town’s annual Mart.

The Tuesday Market Place, close to King Street, has been transformed for the fair.

Anyone who witnessed the incident should contact the serious collision investigation team at Wymondham by calling 101.
