In a statement issued shortly after 5pm today, it said: “We’re aware that some customers in East Anglia experienced a loss of their Sky Broadband and Sky Talk services today.

“We’re pleased to confirm the issue has been resolved. Some customers may still experience some instability while we work to fully restore the network. We’re very sorry for any inconvenience caused.”

In an earlier message on its website, it said the problem affected “multiple exchanges in East Anglia, South East England and Northern Scotland”.

Some angry customers sent Twitter message complaining about the length of the outage, which has lasted more than 12 hours for some people, and a lack of communication from the company.
