A spokesman for Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service said two appliances from Yarmouth and one from Gorleston were called at 10.40am.

On arrival they found a fire in a building on the third floor. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the building and using hose reel jets supplemented by a hydrant extinguished the fire.

Fans were used to clear the smoke and a thermal camera was used to ensure the flames were out.

King Street was shut around the York Road junction for about an hour and a half.

  • Glad to hear no one was hurt. Will say though it wasnt just the fire brigade blocking off access. It was the hoards of people watching the fire like it was a circus event
