Update on bin collections in Breckland after snow delays
Waste collections in the Breckland area are returning to normal after the icy blast,
The district council said black bin collections will be operating as scheduled this week.
If anyone has extra recycling they should leave it in a cardboard box or a clear recycling bag next to the wheeled bin and it will be collected.
The majority of green bins in the district were emptied last week, but some estate roads and side roads were still unaccessible to refuse vehicles.
Breckland’s contractor will be returning to these areas to empty the green bins.
All brown bin collections will be running as scheduled this week and it anyone has any additional garden waste it should be left next to the wheeled bin and it will be collected.
A Breckland spokesman said: “We apologise to our residents for the inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience.”

The refuse collection vehicles weigh over 25 tonnes and require more control in icy conditions especially on estate roads with the additional hazard of parked cars.
Q: If you miss my collection why does it take so long to catch up again?
A: We try to maintain waste and recycling collections regardless of the weather but where conditions are dangerous for our crews, rounds may take longer to complete or may be temporarily suspended. Whilst we endeavour to catch up on missed collections as quickly as possible, we have a limited workforce and number of vehicles. We operate at maximum capacity, using all vehicles available to collect the missed collection and we will work on a Saturday if needed.
Q: My bin wasn’t emptied on the normal day and I now have additional waste that won’t fit into my bin. What should I do?
A: Under these circumstances we will collect additional bagged waste on the next green bin or brown bin collection. Please leave additional recyclables next to your black bin in a cardboard box.
