Several trains have been cancelled or delayed following the incident, which happened at Romford, near London, at about 4pm today.

A spokesman for Greater Anglia, which runs the service, said: “All lines through Romford and Romford station have now reopened, from 6.15pm. Trains may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes, or revised at short notice, until the train service is recovered.”
