Police, fire-fighters, the East of England ambulance service and air ambulance were all called out following reports of a collision involving a motorcycle and a lorry in Pinbush Road, close to Harrod UK headquarters on the south Lowestoft industrial estate, shortly after 1pm today (Friday).

A police spokesman said: “The collision involved a DAF lorry and a Honda motorcycle, with the motorcyclist – who was conscious and breathing – trapped under the lorry with leg injuries that are not thought to be life changing.”

The man was taken to hospital by the air ambulance shortly after 1.30pm.

A spokesman for the ambulance service said: “We were called just after 1pm, dispatching an ambulance, paramedic officer and the East Anglian Air Ambulance. Crews treated a male casualty who had suffered a severe ankle injury and he was conveyed to James Paget University Hospital in Gorleston.”

The collision happened not far away from a blaze, which badly damaged a commercial vehicle workshop in the same road yesterday (Thursday). It is understood that part of Pinbush Road was cordoned off as the motorcyclist was freed by fire-fighters, and the scene was clear by 2.25pm.
