A search was launched this afternoon - with a police helicopter being scrambled - to find teenager Paul Longbottom, who had gone missing during a family bike ride in Corton at around 2.15pm.

A Suffolk Constabulary appeal had said the youngster had gone missing before but there was concern for his well-being as he didn’t know the area.

The spokesman said: “When he has gone missing before he is known to knock on doors – and about 3.15pm police received a call from a member of the public in Orchard Lane in Blundeston who reported a young boy calling at her home asking for a lift to Tesco.

“When the woman said she would call police to help him he left.”

He was found safe and well in Raglan Street in Lowestoft at around 8pm, following a number of calls from members of the public.
