Emergency services were called to the collision at Trowse on Saturday, which closed the dual carriageway between A146 and Postwick junctions.

The collision happened at around 4pm in the eastbound A146 slip road, but the westbound carriageway was also shut to allow the East Anglian Air Ambulance to land.

Police said a coach heading towards Great Yarmouth on the A47 dual carriageway collided with stationary queued traffic heading in the same direction.

The crash involved a white or beige Scania coach, a white Ford Fiesta, a Silver Fiat Doblo, a blue Vauxhall Astra and a silver Nissan Almera.

One man suffered serious life changing injuries and was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge. He is now believed to be in a stable condition, according to police.

Two other women suffered cuts and bruising and were taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.

Three ambulances, a rapid response vehicle and a paramedic officer also attended from the East of England Ambulance Service.

Firefighters from Carrow, Earlham and Sprowston stations were called and released three casualties using hydraulic rescue equipment.

They also made the vehicles and the surrounding area safe.

The eastbound carriageway of the A47 was closed until 9pm last night.

Any witnesses to the collision are requested to contact PC Woodgate of Wymondham Roads Policing Team on 101.
