The body of a man believed to be in his 30s was pulled out of the River Waveney today.
Emergency services were called to Burgh St Peter, near Beccles, in the morning after reports of a body being seen in the water.
Norfolk Police confirmed that they received a call at 9.45am saying that somebody had been seen near Aldeby.
Fire, ambulance and police services were sent our with rescue teams at points miles apart along the river between Aldeby and Burgh St Peter.
Early in the afternoon a police spokesman confirmed that they had been removed from the water at Burgh St Peter. Later they confirmed that the body was that of a man in his 30s.
They said: “The death is not being treated as suspicious and the coroner has been informed. Officers are working to formally identify the deceased and notify next of kin.”
Nearly 3,000 people have supported a Facebook campaign demanding safety improvements on the A47 near Dereham set up after the latest fatal crash.
