A second man was immobilised on scene to prevent further damage before being taken to the Norfolk and Norwich by land ambulance.

Two further casualties were assessed for minor injuries, and one was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich for further assessment.

The fire service used used hydraulic rescue equipment to release one of the casualities trapped in a vehicle.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust said: “After assessing the casualties, we decided it would be best to fly the one casualty to hospital because of the serious nature of his chest injuries. Two other casualties were also taken to the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital for further assessment and treatment but their injuries were not believed to be of a critical nature.”

The police were called to the scene at 2.15pm where a road block was in place.
