A young Norfolk man who died in a road crash on Friday was today described by his boss as hard-working, conscientious and well-loved.

Robert Winner, 25, from Sporle, died as a result of injuries he suffered in a collision when he was riding his motorcycle on the A1065 Swaffham to Fakenham road at Weasenham.

Mr Winner worked in Horningtoft, near Fakenham for bespoke timber buildings company Town and Country and been employed there since October 2007.

The company’s managing director Kevin Tuck said: “What a complete tragedy this is.

“Robert was so hard-working, conscientious and reliable. He always gave 110pc and he was a real team player.

“He loved his job and all the blokes here loved him. News of Robert’s death has hit everyone really hard here.”

Mr Winner started as a general assistant and he progressed to quality control of joinery component parts before they were sent away to be painted.

Mr Tuck said: “When Robert first started here he was as quiet as a mouse but he gradually came out of his shell and he had a great sense of humour.

“You couldn’t meet a nicer lad and he will be sadly missed by everybody here.”

The crash happened at about 7am on Friday and Norfolk Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

Mr Winner’s red and black Honda 125cc motorcycle was in collision with a grey Mitsubishi L200 close to the junction between the main road and Low Street.

We have previously reported how Mr Winner’s family – father Mike, stepmother Sue, brother Michael and stepsister Claire – are grieving for a man whom they described as being much loved and likable.

In a statement, they said he was quiet, gentle and friendly, “a bit shy at first until he got to know people; always polite, and he would do anything to help if he could”.

They added that he loved his job had also enjoyed music, gardening, films, and football, especially matches involving Manchester United; he had also been planning soon to take his driving test.

“Robert will be very sadly missed by family, friends and anyone who knew this much-loved and likable young man,” added the statement.

The driver of a black Volkswagen Bora who stopped to help was injured after another vehicle collided with the wreckage of the first crash.
