A crash between a car and a van injured two people and caused long rush-hour delays on the A140 near Newton Flotman.

The accident happened outside the Mill Inn on Ipswich Road at 6.50am.

An ambulance service spokesman said one man, believed to be in his 20s, suffered facial injuries, and an “elderly” woman suffered chest injuries.

Both were taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, but neither person’s injuries were said to be serious.

The road was initially blocked, but police set up a contraflow before the road was fully re-opened at 9.26am.

One crew of firefighters from Long Stratton were called, and made the vehicles and scene safe.

The vehicles involved were a Peugeot 207 and a Citron Berlingo van.

  • One of the most dangerous junctions in the County and frequently a scene of of accidents. The junction with Flordon rd should be made a roundabout.
