A man is fighting for his life this evening after a crash near Cromer.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision which happened at about 8.10am when a white VW Caravelle left the B1436 Thorpe Market Road, half a mile south of the Southrepps junction, and hit a tree.

The driver suffered life-threatening head and chest injuries and was airlifted to Addenbrooke’s Hospital by air ambulance.

Police want to speak to anyone who saw the crash or the manner of driving of the VW beforehand. It had been travelling towards Roughton. The road was closed until midday.
