A man was killed this morning when he was hit by a train at Brundall Gardens.

Bus services are now replacing trains between Norwich, Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft.

The 46-year-old man, who is not believed to be local, died at the platform of the station when he was struck at 11.19 by the Norwich to Lowestoft service.

It is understood that the train driver attempted an emergency stop, but could do little to avoid the man.

Police said there are no suspicious circumstances and are not looking for anyone in connection with the incident.

Network Rail said they were working with the emergency services with the police, fire and ambulance services all helping on the scene.

A statement on the Greater Anglia website said: 'A person has been hit by a train at Brundall Gardens. Because of this, buses are replacing trains between Norwich and Lowestoft/Great Yarmouth, with journey times extended by up to 60 minutes. This will continue until further notice.'

The situation will cause delays to services at Brundall, Cantley, Reedham, Haddiscoe, Somerleyton, Oulton Broad North and Lowestoft, as well as Lingwood, Acle, Berney Arms and Great Yarmouth.
