Did you spot a UFO in Cromer at the weekend?

Cromer residents may have experienced a close encounter of the third kind when they spotted a UFO hovering off the coast at the weekend.
A bright white and blue light was spotted near to the offshore wind farm at around 8.30pm on Saturday and after appearing to rise higher into the sky, its lights began to flash green and red around its base.
Andrew Cochran spotted the object and described it as “strange”.
He said: “I was walking along the sea front heading away from the pier looking out towards the wind turbine farm on the horizon when I noticed [it], then it appeared to move about them. I assumed it was a helicopter.
“The object then shot up really fast and stopped when it was very high in the sky.”
Mr Cochran was joined by a dog walker who also watched the phenomenon before returning to her home.
He added: “I watched the object as it just sat for an hour before it started to very slowly move eastwards. It was not a star, as I know my stars, so I am perplexed and curious.”
He continued to watch the object until 11pm.

A driver had to be rescued from a river in Thetford after the Ford Focus he was travelling in came off the road.

Unidentified - yes. Flying - probably. Object - almost certainly. End of?

The headline sums up the dross that Archant now churn out for me: "UFO spotted off Cromer's coast". No, it was a possiblealleged UFO sighting off of Cromer. Very very poor journalism.

I run a UFO group in Cromer and over the last few months it has been going. Ive have spotted lots of ufos in and around the Cromer coastline, alot of these objects are not even visible to the naked eye .. And only seem to be visible under night vision ..

I agree with austin - if this thing was visible for 2.5 hours surely someone could have been found with a camera. Don't people think that if UFO's came all the way to Earth they'd do a little bit more than hover around a windfarm near Cromer!! Still this dross fills the papers I guess. Better than seeing the same story printed twice in the same edition just to fill space.

Just studied the picture at bottom of story and I think it looks like a very big red hot air balloon with a big black dot on it. Either that or a very big exclamation mark wondering what this story is really about!!

How about, rather than an aircraft moving, if it was the lights being turned on on different parts of a structure associated with the wind farm-like a boat with a crane or a boat with a helideck or a mini drilling rig, which was using flood lights at one point and then navigation lights which showed different colours as it moved position and set off for the outer harbour at GY. Bet V can think of an answer.

Actually I think it was a UFO, it was hovering over the Sheringham shoal wind turbines trying to figure out why they work so much better than the ONSHORE ones it had visited the previous night! It's erratic flight was due to the much windier conditions it had met at Swaffham the previous night, also it was scared when it saw the rotor blades actually turning!!! It has returned to its masters now to report that the only place for wind turbines is out at sea!!!!

"A close encounter of the third kind" Sorry to be pedantic but even the quickest piece of research would show that that is factually incorrect.

2.5 hours and no pictures? Agree but not everyone goes for a walk with a camera at the ready nor does everyone have a mobile with a camera. I heard that some woman in Great Yarmouth reported the same thing for the early hours of sunday morning. They just keep away from watching our Olympics I reckon and want to get in early for best views lol!
