Producers of the hit musical Priscilla Queen of the Desert are searching for two young people to star in the show when it visits Norwich.
The touring production – which follows the fortunes of three friends who jump aboard a battered old bus searching for love and friendship and has a soundtrack packed with pop classics – takes to the stage at Norwich Theatre Royal towards the end of this year.
Now its producers are looking for two boys to play Benji, the son of Tick, who is played by Jason Donovan.
John Bultitude, Norwich Theatre Royal spokesman, said: “The chance to star in a hit musical like this, opposite a hugely experienced cast of performers headed by Jason Donovan, is an opportunity not to be missed.
“We know the Norfolk area has a huge array of young performing talent and this is a fantastic chance to showcase this in a massively popular feelgood show.” The boys need to be aged between seven and 10, of a slight build, and will be playing a character aged between six and eight.
They need to have acting and singing experience, and preferably dancing experience.
Debbie O’Brien, casting director, said: “They need to be able to play a role of a boy who is innocent and sweet while also being very confident, and have good energy and concentration levels.”
The boys will be able to live at home during the show’s Norwich run from November 25 to December 7, but parents or guardians will be required to bring them to the theatre for performances and rehearsals, although chaperones will be provided for all these sessions. The show does feature some adult themes, and producers say the show is suitable for an audience aged 15 or over.
To apply, send a recent photo and CV which includes details of age, height, and any experience or training to email@example.com. Selected people will be invited to audition next month.
