Police are investigating two stack fires last night which destroyed 400 tonnes of straw in West Norfolk.

Arsonists are believed to have struck at Ringstead Road, Sedgeford, just after midnight when 200 tonnes of straw was well alight.

Fire crews from Heacham and Sandringham were called to the scene and remained until 5.30am when they were relieved by a crew from King’s Lynn.

Less than an hour after that blaze was reported, a crew from Hunstanton was sent to Burnham Road, Ringstead, at 12.42am where another 200 tonnes of straw had been set alight.

The fire was allowed to burn itself out and the crew left the scene at 3.40am.

Police were called to both sites and are linking the fires. Officers are appealing for witnesses to call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 with any information.
