Mundesley’s independent lifeboat crew were called to help with incidents twice within 24 hours this weekend.

The boat, funded entirely by public donations, was paged at about 6pm yesterday to help a broken-down fishing boat about three quarters of a mile offshore.

The Mundesley crew managed to restart the boat and escorted it along the coast until its engine failed again, off Trimingham.

Mundesley lifeboat then started towing the boat to Wells.

The Mundesley team handed over the tow at Cromer to their RNLI colleagues aboard Sheringham lifeboat who towed the boat to Wells where it was brought safely into harbour by Wells lifeboat.

Mundesley’s second call came at about 12.30pm today when they were alerted to a possible surfboard sighting by Mundesley Coastwatch.

The lifeboat was launched and on scene in under five minutes. The object turned out to be a battered and broken crab-pot marker.
