Known for his presenting work on popular series such as Big Cat Diary, Springwatch and Autumnwatch, Mr King congratulated the park's dedicated countryside team for its hard work in constructing the new feature, which took 18 months to complete.

Built on the site of a disused clay pit, the new wetland habitat includes interpretation boards detailing flora and fauna guests are likely to see including bees, butterflies and dragonflies, as well as shrews, voles, wildflowers, kingfishers, kestrels and muntjac deer.

Kelling Heath's estates quality and assurance manager John Cumming said the pond will provide a tranquil spot for guests and help to educate them about the natural life that populates their surroundings. Construction required full excavation of the site and the addition of 20 tonnes of sand.
