Tuesday weather update: Two schools closed and one flood warning in place

The sub-zero temperatures have caused two school closures in Norfolk today.

Ludham Primary School and Nursery is shut for the day after a burst pipe caused flooding and a heating system failure.

And in Hunstanton, Smithdon High School is also closed for emergency repairs following a fault to the heating system.

Officials at the Environment Agency said river levels were beginning to stabilise, but a flood warning is still in place along the River Waveney between Bungay and Ellingham.

There are also flood alerts on the River Yare at Norwich from Marlingford to Trowse, the Little Ouse and River Thet between Thetford and Brandon, and River Bure and Spixworth Beck.

On the roads, the A1101 Elm High Road in Wisbech is currently partially blocked near the A47 junction, because of a crash involving two vehicles.

Motorists travelling between Dereham and Norwich are facing long delays due one lane being shut because of a broken down car.

Three separate collisions are currently being dealt with by Suffolk Police. The first incident happened on the A1070 at Hintlesham earlier this morning.

Then in the eastbound carriageway of the A14 at Trimley St Martin another lorry jackknifed.

The most recent crash happened at 6.30am at the Seven Hills junction of the A12 and A14. No-one is thought to have been injured in the incidents.
