The man, named locally as Daniel Bowyer from Wroxham, died when his blue Citroen Saxo crashed into a wall on the A1151 Wroxham Road by the Green Man pub at Rackheath at 4.15am.

But the car could not be seen from the road and police were not alerted until around midday when a neighbour found the vehicle.

Dozens of flowers and tributes have been left at the spot where the accident happened.

One tribute read: “You will be sadly missed and will always be in my heart.

“It is heart-breaking that you will never meet our daughter.”

Another said: “You were like the big brother I never had. You always knew how to cheer me up and put a smile on my face.”

Another read: “We were so lucky to have a friend like you. You will always be in my heart, thoughts and memories.”

Daniel, known as Boz, had studied ecology at Easton College.

Classmate Kirsty Bailey said: “Nothing like this should ever happen to someone so young. He had his whole life ahead of him. It is just a waste.”

Tributes have also been paid to Daniel on social network site Facebook with more than 200 friends joining a group in his memory.

Tributes left on Facebook included: “Never take things for granted, sleep tight Daniel Bowyer, you will never be forgotten.”

Another said: “Forever in our hearts, memories and thoughts, will never forget you.”

One friend wrote: “Gone but never forgotten you will be missed dearly by many.”

Along with flowers, messages have also been written on the bricks of the wall where the accident happened.

A stretch of the A1151 was closed on Friday afternoon for four hours while police investigated the crash and retrieved the car.

They will now prepare a report into what happened and an inquest will be opened into Mr Bowyer’s death by the Norfolk coroner.

No-one else was injured in the crash.
