Mr and Mrs Price, who lived in Liss, where involved in a collision between a Vauxhall Meriva, Renault Scenic and a Ford Focus at around 1.45pm.

The couple leave behind five children who have today paid tribute.

In a statement they said: “We are of course deeply mourning the sudden loss of our mum and dad, Bert and Jean. We wish to thank friends and relatives for the deluge of kind support at this difficult time, and especially praise the outstanding support and kindness of Norfolk Police and the staff at Norfolk and Norwich and Addenbrooke’s hospitals.

“We are comforted in our grief by the fact that others involved in the collision were not seriously injured. Mum and dad had strong Christian faith, and we recognise that God has chosen to take them home, although completely sudden and unexpected for us, they remain together.

“We could never imagine one of them without the other. Our prayers remain with the other families involved as they continue their recovery.”

Mr Price, aged in his 80s, died at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital while his wife, aged in her 70s, died at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridgeshire.

Officers would like to hear from anyone who believes they may have seen any of the vehicles prior to the collision or witnessed the incident itself. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Team on 101.
