Emotional tributes have been paid to a man who died after his motorbike hit a tree.

Michael McQuat, 70, died at Addenbrooke's Hospital after the incident on Sunday, September 22 when his motorbike came off the road.

Ben Parish, of Lowestoft Community Church, paid tribute to Mr McQuat's work with the children at the church in his role as a volunteer.

Mr Parish said: 'Mike was a much loved member of the church and will be greatly missed.

'He was always keen to help others, and will be particularly remembered fondly by those who attended our Tiny Tots (parents & toddlers group) where he served the refreshments for a number of years and always enjoyed chatting to the parents and children.

'Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time.'

He was also described as a 'lovely' and 'wonderful' man by tributes on the Lowestoft Community Church Facebook page.

Michelle Jackson said: 'Mike, a wonderful man, and a fabulous Father Christmas for both my children (and many others!) at Tots.

'His smiley face will certainly be missed. Thoughts and prayers with the families.'

Jimmi Clarke added: 'What a legend! Mike, you served the church so well! I'll miss laughing with you and at you, I'll miss bickering with you over silly stuff and calling you funny names just to wind you up.

'Well done bud, you have a special place in our hearts. I'm sure you're already on a bike in heaven but this time with Karen on the back!'

Marie Bushell echoed the tributes. She said: 'So so sad to read this! My children absolutely loved him on a Tuesday morning tots group.

'Always smiling and the best coffee maker. Definitely one of the reasons we continued for so long. He'll always be part of my memory of my children's (and mine) best pre-school group.'

Rae Bullough added: 'Mike was such a lovely man and me and my children loved to see him at toddler group.

'Such a lovely caring man, always happy to chat to me and listen to me. He is definitely one of the best memories about toddler group. RIP Mike.'
