Mavrix, an eight piece band doing well on the UK and European Country Music scene will be playing at the Corn Hall on Saturday August 26.

The group promotes itself as a tribute act to Grammy Award winners The Mavericks, which hit the UK charts in 1998 with 'Dance the Night Away.'

But their new show covers SKA, Americana, Tex-Mex, Blues, Ballads and Rock which they describe as ' Cross Over Country.'

'Full on 'Country' is like marmite!' says band manager Nigel King, 'you either love it or hate it.

'But the Mavrix music style of 'Cross Over Country' definitely appeals to so many others because it offers lots of fantastic genres such as Ska, Reggae, Latin, and more - all performed with a Country twist!

'In fact audiences that are out and out Country music fans might find that The Mavrix simply don't do enough full on Country for them.

'They will certainly do a few full on Country numbers so as not to disappoint anybody though.'

The band manager says 'Cross Over Country is one of the biggest expanding music sectors within the USA right now.

'Younger and Older audiences alike are loving artistes like Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Tim McGraw, Keith Urban to name but a few, ' he says.

'Good music performed well knows no social boundaries. It's simply good honest music that feeds the soul.

'We hope lots of Norfolk people will come along to support this fantastic musical event.

'They will definitely find themselves leaving with a new take on what 'Country' music is all about,' Nigel King says.

Corn Hall director Angela Sykes said: ' We are hoping that such an ecletic mix will have people up on their feet from the very off.

'Please get to the venue early as we are expecting it to be a very busy evening.'

Tickets are available on www.thecornhall.co.uk for £12.50 or from the Box Office on 01379 652241.
