The 7.35am Lowestoft to Norwich train was cancelled because of a train fault and the 7.27am Lowestoft to Ipswich service was reduced to a single-carriage train.

A bus service ran between Woodbridge and Ipswich to make up for the reduced service.

A Greater Anglia spokeswoman said: “We apologise to our customers for the inconvenience this caused.”

Trains travelling from London to Norwich this morning were also delayed because of a problem with line-side equipment.

  • Actually 'melamighty' I think you will find its the previous operators fault who along with the company who they rent the trains from for the lack of management of there maintenance I think you will find Abellio has had nothing to do with the problems I mean they have only had the franchise a few days but there handling of the situation I have found so far is strides past National express that management team was awful and are not fit to be a train operator.

  • We fritter money away on grandiose schemes that benefit nobody whilst the countries infastrucure falls to bits. They manage to still run ancient steam trains on time in India, maybe an Indian company should have taken over.

  • I think most people who use the trains regularly know who's to blame for the problems, and at the moment it has to be said that Network rail are failing badly, they have a route that is not fit for purpose but seem to be ignoring it. Where NXEA had a problem was their lack of communication to passengers when there are problem, Abellio seem to have started off on a better foot with regular service updates.

  • No real news then, just the same as... Lack of investment in our rail infrastructure has long been the root cause of our third rate rail system. It never ceases to amaze me that vast sums of money can be found for idiot schemes - like the obscene amounts being spent on the Olympics - while schemes to improve road and rail links - which would be of long term benefit to the economy - are starved of funding.

  • If the train has a fault its down to the train operators, Abellio in this case, every other problem thats not down to a train is the problem of Network Rail. I wish people would understand or at least take a bit of time out and learn about who they should blame rather than who they want to blame!!!!!!!
