High winds damaged a set of traffic lights at a busy Norwich junction, it has emerged.
The traffic signals failed at 10.16pm last night where Martineau Lane joins the A146 Trowse bypass.
This was due to high winds damaging a signal head, which subsequently caused the signals to trip out.
Engineers arrived on site at 8am and the signals were back on and working at 8.53am, however workers have remained on site to replace the damaged signal head.
While the lights were not working, police were on scene helping to direct the traffic and keep it moving.
Another set of traffic lights also failed at 9.11pm last night at the junction of the A148 and the A1078 at South Wootton, near King’s Lynn.
A spokeswoman for Norfolk County Council’s highways department said: “An engineer arrived on site at 9.23am, as yet the signals are still not back on and our engineer remains on site to carry on the investigation into the fault.”
