Poppies Nursery in North Walsham held the sponsored toddle for the charity CLAPA (Cleft Lip and Palate Association).

Around 25 children took part in the event, which has raised around £40 and took place over two days, Wednesday and Thursday during Cleft Lip and Palate Awareness Week 2014.

Kate Sullivan’s two-year-old son Sam, who attends the nursery and took part in the toddle, was born with Pierre Robin sequence, one of the symptoms of which is a cleft palate. Sam had surgery last year for his cleft palate and is doing well.

Ms Sullivan, 38, said: “We wanted to raise awareness of CLAPA and what they do as we did get lots of things from them like special feeding teats and we really benefitted from their support. We wanted to emphasis to others that they can get support.”

Beth Buczynskyj , one of the nursery workers, said: “The little boy’s mum asked if we would do the toddle to raise awareness of CLAPA and as a nursery we like to support the children who come here.”
