Three lifeboats and a search and rescue helicopter were deployed after concerns were raised for the welfare of a missing man on the Norfolk coast, near Great Yarmouth.

Lifeboat crews from Hemsby, Caister and Gorleston were scrambled at just before 10pm last night <Saturday> following reports of a missing 25-year-old man, who was last seen in the sea.

The Hemsby Inshore Lifeboat was launched and conducted a close to shore sea search from California Cliffs to Caister.

Gorleston and Caister lifeboats were also involved as well as a land search conducted by Winterton Coastguard and Norfolk Police with the RAF Search and Rescue Helicopter from Wattisham giving land and sea cover.

After an hour the man was located safe and sound on dry land and the lifeboats stood down and returned to station.
