The primetime Saturday night ITV1 gameshow hosted by award-winning presenting pals Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly gives viewers a chance to win the holiday by playing “The Supercomputer” game - where people show off their talents and personality and demonstrate how much they want that prize - which appears in a different location in the country each week.

During Saturday night’s show Ant and Dec revealed the computer would be at Norwich’s Castle Mall and yesterday crowds of people descended on the Mall to take part - cheered on by throngs of supportive shoppers who lined the balconies on all levels of the shopping centre to catch a glimpse of the action.

People got to the Mall early to register for the chance to ‘perform’ a variety of silly dances and songs in a bid to win the Florida trip with the Norwich winners to be revealed by Ant and Dec on Saturday’s show.

There were just a few tickets up for grabs but that did not stop thousands turning up to try their luck.

Frances Fairs, 21, from Lowestoft, who has been at the Mall since 8.30am, said: “I was watching the show when I saw it was coming to Norwich. I do martial arts and am going to try and get everyone to do the Can-Can.”

She added: “I would adore the chance to go to Florida I would never be able to afford it on my own.”

Rob Wood, 23, from Heartsease, said: “I’m here because I want to take my mum to Florida - it would be great to do something for her for once.”

Josh Davey, 21, came to Norwich from Ipswich for the chance to try out in front of the Supercomputer. He said: “I do a great impression of an elephant. I’m hoping to get the crowd going and it would be the perfect cherry on top of the cake if I could win.”

Buzby Allen, 35, from Hopton-on-Sea, who donned a fluorescent lime green tracksuit for his performance, said: “It was a great atmosphere - its just whipping up the crowd.”

A source close to ITV said there was a great turn out at the Mall with crowds sticking around throughout the day to watch the hopefuls try and win.

Teresa Lake, 45, from Billingford, went to the Mall with her son Adam, 18, after seeing Saturday’s show and hearing it was coming to the city.

She said: “I came with my son who thought he might have a go. I was quite impressed that everyone who was out shopping came over. It was really good.”

Friends Jordan Visser, 17, from Fakenham, Matty Bawton, 18, from Wisbech, and Luke Gore, 18, came to Norwich especially to see the fun - and try and get a chance themselves.

Mr Bawton said: “It hasn’t come this way before so we thought it would be good to come.”

Sarah Smith, 35, from Thorpe St Andrew Jo Bilverstone, 37, from Lingwood and Louise Sims, 38, from Salhouse, were hoping to be able to impress the computer with their Thriller dance.

And while the trio, all dressed in pink wigs, were “disappointed” not to get the chance to perform in front of the computer they said it was a “great atmosphere”.
