Burglars broke into the Ford bus as it was parked at RSPB Lakenheath Fen, in Station Road, between 3pm and 4.30pm on Sunday.

Entry was gained after two rear windows were smashed, with the thieves making off with two bags.

The bags contained numerous items of property including an Apple Macbook Air, adapters, batteries and chargers for a camera, approximately 90 Euros in foreign currency and assorted travel tickets and a passport. A police spokesman said the combined value of all the items is £2,500.

A spokesman for Lakenheath Fen said thefts were a very rare occurence at the site.

“There were a lot of people around and for somebody to come and do that, it was just really unlucky.

“We have signs up warning people not to leave items on show but it’s not something that happens here very often at all,” she said.

Anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area, or who has any information about this incident, is asked to contact PC Alex Kelly at Mildenhall Police Station on 101 quoting reference MH/14/750, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
