The 375 metres of lead-covered copper telecommunications cable was stolen from ducts along the A1088 Thetford Road towards Euston, a police spokesman said.
The incident is believed to have taken place some time between 12am on January 31 and 3pm on February 5.
Anyone with information about this incident should contact PC Carols D’Silva at Thetford Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
The spokesman warned that metal thieves will often appear to be legitimate workman and police are appealing to members of the public to report any activity they believe may be suspicious, especially at unusual times and particularly at night.
