Hundreds of runners are set to put their best foot forward for charity again this summer as Thetford hosts the Race for Life for another year.

More than 150 women pulled on their running shoes last year to raise money for Cancer Research at the event, which takes place over 5k from Abbey Meadows.

Now organisers want everyone from the superfit to the casual jogger to get involved and try and raise as much as possible.

This year’s event will also see a men’s event being held, with both taking place on August 31.

Mark Robinson, organiser, said he hoped to top last year’s number of participants.

“Last year was a great event that raised a lot of money but we’re hoping to be even bigger this year.

“Every day 80 people are diagnosed with cancer in East Anglia, which is why we are holding the Race for Life in Thetford and helping to raise more money for research,” he said.

Last year’s event saw many runners turn out in fancy dress, with the majority of runners decked out in pink.

The women’s event starts at 8.45am with registration, before a warm up at 9.30am and the race start at 9.45am.

Registration for the men’s event starts at 10.15am, with a warm up at 11.15am and the race start at 11.30am.

Thetford Rugby Club have confirmed they will be doing the warm up for this year’s men’s event.
