Victors to Thetford’s Ancient House Museum can step back in time and join costumed characters to find out how to spruce up the home, Victorian style.

Victorians believed cleaning was good for you and some of the cleaning techniques used then were very different from todays.

Visitors can try their hand at shining up the copperware and learn how to clean using banana skins at the event on April 10.

“It’s exciting to be able to share cleaning methods from the past which are not only interesting but also were often more environmentally friendly than today’s harsh chemicals and plastics” said Kathryn Knock, museum learning assistant.

The Victorians really enjoyed their afternoon tea and people are invited to take the tea taste challenge and no afternoon tea would be complete without cucumber sandwiches.

The event is from 10am until 1pm and will cost £2 per person.
