The Wells Christmas Tide, a hugely popular event which sees Santa arrive in the town by boat, starts tomorrow and runs through to Sunday.

K’s Burger Bar, Sands Arcade and Shop With a View gift shop all remain closed today.

The Golden Fleece pub is expected to stay closed until January.

Steven Brundle, 60, who co-owns the pub with Paddy McAloon, said: “We’re hoping our insurance will cover loss of trade over Christmas but the assessors have so many people to see and it’s going to take a lot of time to sort out.”

Standard House Chandlery, on East Quay, remains closed.
