“The club can’t grow”: Weeting Football Club plan for more pitches turned down by Breckland Council

A football club secretary has said a council has “moved the goalposts” after plans for badly needed new pitches were rejected.

Joe Green, secretary of Weeting Football Club, saw plans for new facilities in the village refused by Breckland Council on Monday.

The plans were previously refused last year due to there being no permanent changing rooms.

Mr Green said the new plans had addressed the concerns, and was left confused by the decision.

“I just don’t understand it, “he said. “We’ve taken care of everything they wanted. The club can’t grow and it’s stifling healthy sporting activity in the village.”

He said a new application would be entered in future.
