Rianna Payne and Ben Orton, both from the unit in North Walsham, were recognised for their commitment to the first aid charity with the presentation of their Grand Prior Awards.

The award shows that the pair demonstrated a sustained effort studying 24 different subjects – including first aid, communication

and working in the community – giving them the necessary skills to become a life-saver.

Rianna, 14, has been a St John Ambulance volunteer since 2013 and wants to become a pathologist, while 17-year-old Ben is at college and has been a volunteer with the charity since 2012.

Maureen Payne, manager of the unit, said: 'I wish them well as they continue their volunteering journeys with St John Ambulance and ultimately start their careers.'
