The event aims to squash food waste by giving families ideas of how to use their pumpkins after Halloween.

As part of the science festival, One Planet Norwich and Norwich City Council will give families inspiration on what to do with the season’s favourite spooky vegetable.

Every October approximately 18,000 tonnes of pumpkin are thrown away, this is the same as 1,500 double decker busses.

Activities at the event include: Mad science shows, face-painting, tasty pumpkin soup courtesy of Food Cycle Norwich, design your own tote bag and many pumpkin recipes.

The event is free and will take place at The Forum between 10am - 4pm on Saturday, October 20.

For more information on the event visit the One Planet Norwich Facebook page.

They are also encouraging the public to tweet their favourite pumpkin treats using #norwichpumpkinrescue
