Thousands of people are expected to attend Walsingham’s annual Tamil pilgrimage to the Catholic National Shrine of Our Lady today.

Police will be providing reassurance, advice and support to pilgrims attending and residents.

Meanwhile, road users are being reminded that there is likely to be heavy traffic as people travel to and from the event.

Officers have worked closely with organisers to make sure the pilgrimage is a safe and enjoyable event, not only for all those attending but also the wider community.

Routes to the pilgrimage will be clearly marked for all those attending and officers are warning motorists that routes into Walsingham along the A1065 into Fakenham, A149 at Fakenham and the B1105 towards Wells-next-the-Sea are likely to be congested.

Attendees are also reminded for safety purposes that the low tide on Wells beach on Sunday will be at approximately 9.20am with high tide at 3.15pm.
