The supermarket could be built in Castle Acre Road after developer Millngate bought the derelict three-acre site from Breckland Council in the summer.

Around 4,000 residents, councillors and businesses have been invited to comment on the draft plans when they go on show for the first time at the George Hotel on Friday and Saturday.

There will also be a chance for people to register an early interest in working at the new store, which is expected to create 150 jobs.

Tony Sweeney, Millngate’s managing director, said: “We have spent much time creating a high-quality design for the store which incorporates environmentally friendly materials and the latest green technology.

“We are hopeful that the local community will support the new store and we are looking forward to receiving feedback to our exhibition this Friday and Saturday.

“A number of people have already commented to us that the current derelict site is unattractive and in real need of regeneration. Our proposals will ensure this and will also create around 150 new jobs.

“There will be much more detailed information available at the exhibition and we are hoping as many people as possible will be able to attend.”

The exhibition will be held in the hotel’s Pedlar Suite from 3pm to 7pm on Friday and from 10.30am to 3pm on Saturday.
