We’re fortunate to have so many colourful processions and events throughout our area and here are just a few highlights from our archives.
The Diss procession winds its way up Market Hill in this photo from 1981 (1). Uncle Trev entertains at Cromer Carnival in 1982 (2) and the Cromer Friendship Club leads a procession of floats from the carnival of 1961 (3).
Still in Cromer, contestants line up for the start of the Waiters’ Race in 1963 (4). And here is a general shot of the carnival scene at Downham Market in 1979 (5). A happy scene in the sunshine at Sheringham Carnival in 1984 (6) and an aerial view of the animated scene at Sheringham in an undated photo from our files (7). Crowds turned out to enjoy the 1989 carnival at Wymondham, as our photo shows (8).
Finally, a charming shot of a country and western group at Watton Carnival in 1989 (9).
