Thousands of revellers are set to descend on the Norfolk Showground today for the final day of the Sundown festival.

Some of the music industry’s biggest chart acts will be appearing at the two-day event, which started yesterday.

Up to 40,000 people are expected to visit the festival at the Norfolk Showground, near Norwich, with around 8,000 camping over the weekend.

Evening News/ EDP reviewer Chris Thompson said: “The atmosphere is one of expectation and fun for everyone basking in the sun and sounds of the main stage and those already exerting vast amounts of energy in the dance tent.

“Local artist Oliver Daldry made a fantastic debut, drawing a larger than expected crowd of fans with tracks from his album ‘the boy who fell’.

“Next on stage, Virus Syndicate, picked up the energy, getting everyone jumping around and ready for Sasha Keable to deliver her fusion of R&B pop.

“As the evening approaches, excitement around both stages is increasing for the headline acts.”

Today, Ellie Goulding, John Newman, Clean Bandit, Neon Jungle, Ella Eyre and Jess Glynne will be performing.

Dion Clements, festival spokesman, said: “Sunday tends to be our biggest day, but over the course of the weekend we are expecting 50,000 to pass through the gates.”

“Generally it appeals more to teenagers and 20 somethings, but we have a huge age range from five to right up to grandparents bringing their grandchildren.”
