The boy died when he was hit by a truck on a farm deep in the countryside between Diss and Kenninghall.

Officers were called to the farm near Fersfield at around 4pm yesterday answering reports that a toddler had been hit by a farm vehicle.

The incident involved a silver Nissan pick-up truck, police said.

Paramedics were called but there was little they could do to save the boy’s life and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police officers have been speaking to a man in his 60s who was driving the truck.

The incident happened on private land, not a public highway.

A police statement said last night that no arrests had been made.

It said the Health and Safety Executive had been informed and inquiries were ongoing involving CID and roads policing officers to determine what exactly happened.

One source described the case as “very sensitive”.

It is understood the coroner has also been informed.
