Five students from Diss High School Sixth Form have organised a charity auction to raise money for EACH and Cancer Research UK.

Charlotte Diaper, Ana Lomba, Bobby Allen, James Broom-Lynne and Jed Mears have been approaching businesses for items to auction.

Items gathered so far include tickets to Bewilderwood, Barrett & Coe photography experiences, a Tesco gift voucher, homemade Christmas cakes and day passes for High Lodge Thetford Forest.

There will also be a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough wine, four children's fancy dress 'evacuee' -themed costumes and a £25 voucher for a hair cut and goody bag at VAE Hair in Diss.

Mick Ollerton, deputy director of sixth form, said: 'It will be an enjoyable night for everybody and will have a festive atmosphere.

'So we urge you to attend our event to help make it a successful evening.'

The auction will take place at Diss High School's library on Monday next week from 7pm to 8pm.

Ed Taxil-Webber, a professional auctioneer from TW Gaze and former student at Diss High school, will help auction the lots.

Mr Taxil-Webber organised the school's first charity auction, and regularly returns to the school to help with its fundraising efforts.

The event will be a part of the sixth form's charity week.

Other fundraising events to take place during the week will include teacher karaoke, a sponsored fun run and Britain's Got Talent event.

They are also planning to have a drag show, Take Me Out event and also a quiz night.

The school's Sixth Formers will be collecting donations on streets around the town.

EACH is currently trying to raise £10m in its nook appeal, which will fund a new hospice for terminally ill children.
